At Spectrum Health, we are dedicated to helping cancer survivors function at the highest level possible. Through cancer rehabilitation, our goal is to minimize side effects and to help cancer survivors have the best quality of life possible. Our program provides patients with coordinated cancer rehabilitation, supported by a team of specially trained clinicians and providers.
As a patient, you will receive comprehensive cancer rehabilitation treatment to improve the symptoms affecting your daily functioning and quality of life. Symptoms may include, but are not limited to, fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, joint stiffness, limb swelling (lymphedema), weakness, memory problems, balance, and issues with talking or swallowing.
Our cancer rehabilitation program is led by a multispecialty team of rehabilitation professionals who are specially trained in oncology. The team consists of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists. Our cancer rehabilitation team is supported by physicians, nutritionists, social workers and nurse navigators who will provide you with additional expertise, guidance, training and support throughout your rehabilitation treatment.
Your cancer rehabilitation plan will be based on individualized goals that focus on increasing strength and energy, managing pain and improving your functioning and quality of life. Additional resources are also available to you if you need them. Your rehabilitation team will provide you with valuable tips, including how to set specific goals as well as suggestions about exercise, nutrition and sleep.
